Interesting Gamespot article regarding the demise of MCO

This is the first time that I've heard of the lack of community being the games downfall. In fact I think quite the opposite happened to the community. I'd like to know who told Gamespot about this supposed "lack of growth". What are your thoughts?

Motor City Online going offline


EA will close the online muscle-car racing game in August and will offer to give subscribers a copy of another online EA game.

EA has revealed that Motor City Online's run will be coming to an end this August, and subscribers will be billed for the last time in July. The closure was attributed to the lack of growth in the game's community, and the development team that has been supporting Motor City Online will be assigned to other game projects. Yes but it was because of EA's lack of adverisements that attributed to that.
