NEW! MCO clone from Atari!

Post by Guest » Wed May 18, 2005 6:28 pm

Hey all you MCO faithful.... Don't worry, i'm not here to talk crap or start a fight. ;-) I just came across this article about Atari possibly coming out with a car racing game similar to MCO except it has some cool new things. It is going to be previewed at E3 2005. So far it sounds promising, and I was happy to see someone other than EA developing it. At any rate I will just list the link here. I did a search on this board and didn't see anyone posting about it yet so if this is already common knowledge I aplogize for the redundancy. Take care guys, and I hope to see you on the virtual streets once again soon. MCO was one heck of a ride.

We're excited by the potential that Test Drive Unlimited exhibits. This idea was tried once before with Electronic Arts' Motor City Online, but the execution wasn't ideal. Test Drive Unlimited trumps that it enabling players the flexibility to create their own courses and offering a free roaming driving environment over static lobbies. We're looking forward to getting into this game more as it gets closer to release, and we'll keep you updated on its progress.

You'll be able to own a home, create a unique look for your character and, most importantly, have a place to house all the vehicles you intend to own. The home will also provide a place to catch up on news of the racing world and plan out your competitions.

Eden expects to offer over 50 real-world brands of cars, motorcycles and other vehicles, such as Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, Aston Martin and Lamborghini. Those brands will in turn offer a catalog of 150 different vehicles you can use in the game. Each car is meticulously replicated, including working windshield wipers, power windows and a dashboard radio -- which you'll be able to customize to enable access to live Shoutcast streaming-audio "stations" from the Internet while you play the game.
Friggen awesome! :D

Hmm looks like the smart thing to do is wait till the new x-box comes out instead of the current one and forza.Because if this game does come out forza will be a thing of the past very quickly.Look forward to seeing how this game developes. 8-)

We can make our own courses!
The first thing I'll make is a double B oval,,,,,, with 2 walls to crash into!

Seriously, it would be fun to finally be able to make a "salt flats" type of run where you can see what the untimate top end of a car would be.

From what I heard about this it is supposed to be a xbox 360 exclusive game .... so I doubt we will see a pc version. They are working on this game now and it should be out around when the xbox 360 comes out in November.

Courses are not "build your own roads" but you can lay them out over the existing roads is what I understood about the article

Heya Buick67, B0nG, Hotdog guys,
I've been stopping by to keep in touch off and on even though I haven't posted. I had to re-activate my account, hehe. I hope you all understand, part of my attitude was to build my persona as being a bad boy jerk, but I did always play fair and encourage others to as well.

Anyway, after I posted I saw it was an X-Box 360 game as well. The consoles have ruined a lot of computer gaming which is too bad. Maybe they will port it to the PC, if we are lucky. The videos and screenshots look really awesome though. Graphics are almost to the point of actual video which is incredible. I didn't think that would occur for another 4-8 years. I did notice they didn't show any crashes as someone else noted. Take care, keep the faith, and race ya soon.
