Motor City Online Preservation Society
There has been so much activity with the MCO cars lately that I can't help but toss some in myself.
I don't know if anyone is interested in NFSHS versions of the cars anymore but I've still been having a pretty good time playing around with those (in addition to the incredible SCGT selection and the new MCO Mod).
Just in case anyone would like some I'm going to be tossing them up on a website MCO Preservation Society. I've wanted to play around with a PHP enabled website so this was a good excuse to do it.
My plan is to convert over as many of the actual MCO skins from the game on stock cars with no scoops and SS Rally Chrome tires (that's the way I always liked the cars). I finally figured out some of the basics of Zmodeler so I've managed to remap the roof sections so the rusty's display correct and I've added tire tread to the cars that didn't have them. I've gotten some Camaros up, click on the download section if you want to grab them...here is a preview:

look sweet, probably cuda or something after camaro...or whatever he likes. has anyone put one of these in midtown madness? how hard is it to make a car for it? i have seemed to misplace my MM cds i had 1 & 2 and can't find either, when i get my new computer i might install NFS HS and try to see if i can make a car for it, never tried but i have looked it over and looks fairly easy, have you tried bigger skins like 512 or 1024?

Novas! I've got quite a few of those partially done already.Jmann wrote:Sweet Boo! Good to see you get your hands dirty lol..but what ya gonna do when you run out of Camaros?
Had to start with the Camaro, hopefully I'll work my way through all of the cars over time.
Midtown I have used 512 skins for the rustys and some of the decals. I had to remap the roof so I blew the skin up to 512 so I had room to put the rims in there at the original size. Seems to work fine...
The one thing NFSHS does have going for it are the tracks are really varied and cool, just like MCO. The physics are hurting a bit but I do like the way you can slide those cars around corners. And if you flip your car just right it will burst into flames! That's always fun

in yet another game we may soon see these cars, yesterday the same guy who cracked the models for NFS HP2, went and finally cracked open the NFS Porsche Unleashed format!
great news for the modding community as most see this as the best NFS title ever, and the closest in relation to MotorCity, cant wait for the process to be perfected 8)

Holy crap!! That is awesome. I think that game would be the closest thing to what the MCO cars felt like. Do you have a link to where you heard that EP?EP429 wrote:in yet another game we may soon see these cars, yesterday the same guy who cracked the models for NFS HP2, went and finally cracked open the NFS Porsche Unleashed format!
[edit] Found it...oh man...driving the MCO cars on those NFSPU tracks with the better handling, I am stoked at the possibilities!
The link is here
Alejo, I agree. I'm amazed at how much of MCO lived on after it's closing. So many people have kept the spirit and cars alive.
In the meantime....
I threw some Novas up on the site. One is even yours EP, hope that's ok

The NFS:PU is great, but I can't get it working on my PC  For some reason it laways displays lower-res textures on the cars (it is impossible to read the licence plates), no matter what graphic settings so the cars visually suck. Didn't happen that with my old PC just with my new one, any ideas?

Try increasing your Antialiasing and Anisotropic settings (under advanced display settings). I had the same thing on the menu screens and doing that made them much better.
I was thinking the same thing about those MCO tracks. They said that the NFSPU cars could never be cracked and he's done it. Maybe we should pool our resources/money and make him an offer to crack the tracks and get them in NFSPU

w00t b00!
I reinstalled NFSHS just to run these cars again. I must say that I'm wanting to race these more and mroe now. I'm curious is you are going to have every skin for every car that you do? I'm curious because there is no Nova SS Decal or Camaro Z28 Decal or Camaro SS Decal. Just curious. My fav Camaro was always the Yankee Rose for some reason. That was the first one I d/l and ran. Great job boo... keem 'em coming!
|edit| how do you delete the other nonMCO cars from HS? I tried deleting some by just delting the particular car folder, then I got exception errors. Any ideas?

Yep...my plan is to do all of the skins that were actually in game. I just did the SS Decal Camaro last night. I'll toss a bunch more up over the weekend

only really bad thing about customization with High Stakes, you're limited to 50 cars
and Alejo Ill be headin your direction around the 10th of May, me and my dad are goin on a fishin trip to Choke Canyon, by a town about 3 hours from you called Three Rivers, we might just have to meet up and perhaps as promised end up buyin you a drink or two 8)

The 50 car limit isn't too hard to get around. There is a car manager program or even easier is building up directories with 50 cars and renaming them. Then all you need to do to swap out 50 cars is change the dir name you want to use to Cars and those will be the actives.
I've really been playing NFSHS a lot again...it visually is extremely close to MCO. The way the tracks look, driving in the day/night/rain. I usually run a race then go back and watch the replay...I just never get tired of that for some reason.
Hey Soda...let me know if I'm missing any, I think I've got all the Camaros now
(note) There are RS, SS and Z28 color changers in this batch

[edit] damn..I did forget at least one

18 New Tracks for NFSHS
I found a track pack of 18 reworked tracks for NFSHS and it is a really great add on. You can easily switch between the original 18 tracks and the 18 new tracks. The best thing about it is that it is just a single download for all of them, with correct names and everything. I've got details here if anyone is interested.
Some pics of the new tracks...
